Dan Rather

Dan Rather just said “This presidential race is hotter than the devil’s anvil.” I know what I’m going to be doing tonight: taking down Dan Ratherisms.

Update: CBS sucks too much to actually watch it. We’re flipping channels. Honestly, I might just go to bed. My knowing the outcome isn’t going to affect the election.

  1. I could only take about an hour of CBS before I flipped to NPR, but in that time I noted down the devil’s anvil quote as well as “Like a big wheel through a Delta cotton field” (Chimpy’s lead) and “George Bush’s lead is as thin as November ice.” I may tune back in to Rather to see if he comes up with any more cornpone-isms.

  2. He has to just collect them over the course of 4 years specifically to use on election night.

“The reelection of Bill Clinton is as secure as a double-knot tied in wet rawhide.”
–Dan Rather on Election Night, 1996.

“This race between Dick Swett and Bob Smith is hot and tight as a too-small bathing suit on a too-long car ride back from the beach.”

He let loose some Zingers in 2000, too: http://www.ratherbiased.com/election.htm
