As if to symbolize transitions in my life, I found a new and kind of cool white accordion a couple of days after graduation in a thrift store in Indy (or Lafayette?) with Helmecki, and we took it with us on our big cross-country trek to visit my friend Sarah in Oregon (because I distinctly recall her now-husband Michael playing "Eye of the Tiger" on it). Anyway, the next time I tried to play my old accordion, the bellows had given up the ghost. I now have one that my cousin Christian found on the side of the road.
