It's sort of apropos of the title of the post, is it not?

But, yeah, something about "God save tudor houses, antique tables, and billiards" ages a little better than "I hope I die before I get old" (to quote another British invasion international juggernaut who, sadly, did not all get their wish the way Keith Moon did. That sounds harsh, but those guys are total dicks).

If you're a fan of the Village Green Preservation Society, I recommend its <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Kinks-Village-Preservation-Society-Thirty/dp/0826414982" rel="nofollow"> volume in the 33 1/3 series</a>.

Apropos of nothing, as I get older I find that I much prefer The Kinks to other, more famous, British Invasion bands. The Rolling Stones, The Who and the over played and over rated, Beatles get more ink and way more airplay but I think The Kinks have aged better. I'm sure they dreamed of cracking the American market and becoming huge, international juggernauts like those other bands but going back home to England was really the best thing that could have happened to them.
